Why do our children think they can just grow up and become independent?
I mean, just because we teach them skills to be able leave the nest and fly, does that mean they really have to?
Well, that’s the situation we (mom & dad) are finding ourselves in right now.
Our youngest child just moved off to college!
While it’s a very exciting time for both him and us, it’s also a time of sadness.
We’re sad to close this chapter of our lives — the chapter filled with little tikes running around, young kids adventures, youth sports, late at night homework, late nights with friends, and many fun games.
But we’re also happy in looking forward to Caleb’s adventures ahead!

“Back in the Game”
That was the bold statement on the winning t-shirt design for SaltCon End of Summer 2021. And it couldn’t have been more appropriate!
It was awesome to be back at SaltCon this past weekend playing game after game for a couple of days straight.
SaltCon is the big board game convention in Utah, USA and it’s packed with gaming goodness. The event is typically held for 4 days in March each year, so I was sad when it was announced last Fall that the March event would be canceled. But, the news a few months ago that they’d hold an “End of Summer” SaltCon for 3 days at the end of July got me excited again.

Cosplay has exploded over the past two decades and the resources available to fans to make or buy costumes and accessories of all sorts has kept pace.

When we first started reviewing family board games almost 12 years ago, there was a local board game store that had a rental service. They would rent board games for 10 days 10% of the cost of the game. It was a unique service that we enjoyed using for trying new games.

Before the global pandemic hit in 2020, I would have confidently told you our family was great at time management. We were never late, we finished our homework on time, and we had plenty of time to get everything done.

One of the reasons why we love playing physical board games is because of their tactile nature. Moving pieces, rolling dice, and flipping cards is more satisfying to us than tapping an icon on a screen.
